Prof. Ding Songyuan Shares Insights on Graphene-Based Infrared Photonics and Optoelectronics

To enhance academic exchange, broaden researchers' perspectives, and elevate scientific research standards, the 45th session of Moyuan Academy was held on March 10 in Boya Hall. This session featured a lecture by Prof. Ding Songyuan from the School of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering at the Hangzhou Institute for Advanced Study, UCAS. Researchers from BGI attended the event to engage in discussions and knowledge-sharing. The session was hosted by Sun Luzhao, Head of the General Thin Films and Monene Metal Research Group from the Graphene Materials Research Division.

Exploring Graphene-Based Infrared Photonics and Optoelectronics

In his talk, titled "Graphene-Based Infrared Nanophotonics and Optoelectronics," Prof. Ding introduced his team’s recent advancements in a rapid heating and cooling chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method, which has successfully enabled the synthesis of high-quality few-layer graphene-coated manganese oxide nanostructures. He also provided a comprehensive overview of the opportunities and challenges facing this emerging field.

Prof. Ding’s presentation was both insightful and rich in content, offering a fresh perspective on graphene material preparation techniques with significant theoretical and practical implications.

Interactive Discussions and Academic Exchange

During the Q&A session, Prof. Ding engaged in in-depth discussions with attendees, exchanging views on relevant technologies and research directions. His expertise provided valuable insights, sparking lively academic interactions.

As a flagship cultural and academic initiative of BGI, Moyuan Academy is dedicated to fostering academic engagement with leading experts and scholars. By promoting rigorous research and industry-driven innovation, the initiative aims to cultivate a motivated and methodical research team, ultimately contributing to the sustainable development of the graphene industry.
