Innovating the Future: Beijing Graphene Forum 2019 Marks New Milestones in Graphene Industry

On October 25-26, 2019, the Beijing Graphene Forum 2019 unfolded at the scenic Daoxiang Lake Hotel in Beijing, heralding a monumental gathering of nearly 500 representatives from academia, the corporate world, and government both domestically and internationally. Esteemed attendees included Hao Ping, President of Peking University; Liu Zhongfan, Director of the Beijing Graphene Institute (BGI); Xu Xin Chao, Deputy Director of the Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission; Wang Xinsheng, Deputy Director of the Shandong Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology; and Li Yechuan, Director of the Materials Industry Department of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology.

This forum was a showcase of groundbreaking advancements and strategic collaborations in the graphene sector. Notably, BGI, in partnership with China University of Petroleum (Beijing), Soochow University, Changchun University of Technology, and the Suzhou Institute of Nano-Tech and Nano-Bionics, CAS, announced the establishment of four collaborative innovation centers. Additionally, three joint laboratories were inaugurated in cooperation with Blue Morning Chemical Research and Design Institute, AVIC Manufacturing Technology Institute, and AECC Beijing Institute of Aeronautical Materials.

The forum also celebrated several strategic signings, including collaborations with the National Graphene Product Quality Supervision and Inspection Center (Wuxi), the National Intellectual Property Operation Public Service Platform, Jining High-tech Zone, and Litenano Company, further solidifying BGI's commitment to leading the graphene industry's development.

In his keynote address, Liu Zhongfan, lauded the rapid progress of BGI over the past year, highlighting its near 200-strong workforce, six R&D departments, and significant achievements in graphene equipment manufacturing, ultra-clean graphene film production, graphene LED lighting, and other pioneering research outcomes. Liu stressed the importance of perseverance and innovation in advancing the graphene industry, acknowledging the challenges ahead but also the institute's readiness to lead the charge.

The forum's diverse agenda included public lectures on science, academic symposiums on cutting-edge research, regional industrial development discussions, innovation competitions, and expert dialogues, providing a comprehensive platform for sharing knowledge and fostering collaborations.

As an international platform for academic and industrial exchanges in graphene, the Beijing Graphene Forum has become a pivotal event for global industry stakeholders, promoting the integration of advanced technology with industrial applications and supporting the original innovation and high-quality development of Beijing's graphene sector. The success of this year's forum is a testament to China's vibrant and rapidly advancing graphene industry, setting the stage for healthier and more accelerated growth in the years to come.
