Faculty and Students from China University of Petroleum Visit BGI for Academic Exchange

A delegation from the China University of Petroleum (Beijing) visited the Beijing Graphene Institute (BGI) on November 6 for an in-depth exchange focused on advanced engineering education and industry–academia collaboration. The group included faculty advisers and postgraduate researchers from the university’s professional degree program.

Immersive Visit to BGI’s R&D Ecosystem

The delegation toured BGI’s exhibition hall, industrialization building, and core laboratories. The state-of-the-art research facilities and active innovation environment provided a clear view of BGI’s full innovation pipeline—from fundamental research to scalable application development.
Through close-up observation, students gained a deeper understanding of cutting-edge graphene technologies, current global research trends, and the institute’s commitment to scientific excellence.

Introducing BGI’s Research Landscape and Talent Programs

During the exchange session, Dr. Qin Xie presented an overview of BGI’s development path, major research directions, and recent breakthroughs across graphene materials and advanced applications. She also introduced BGI’s joint training programs for postgraduate and doctoral researchers, outlining the institute’s academic resources, mentorship structure, and support system for collaborative education.
The briefing helped students gain clarity on future opportunities for joint research projects and long-term academic engagement at BGI.

Dialogue on Strengthening Industry–Academia Collaboration

Both parties engaged in active discussions on enhancing cooperation models and improving training systems for future engineering talent.
The delegation expressed appreciation for BGI’s achievements in research innovation and talent development, and highlighted the potential to expand collaboration in interdisciplinary areas with strong global relevance.

Open Interaction with BGI Researchers

During an informal Q&A session, students exchanged ideas with BGI mentors on research topics, industry trends, and practical experience within BGI’s labs.
This direct dialogue not only answered students’ academic and career-related questions but also encouraged them to engage with frontier technologies and participate in research activities with international impact.

Towards a Long-Term Collaboration Framework

The exchange marks a meaningful step in advancing collaboration between BGI and leading universities. It strengthened mutual understanding of research directions, academic culture, and training mechanisms, laying a solid foundation for future joint programs.
Moving forward, BGI will continue to work closely with global academic partners to build an open, collaborative platform that cultivates highly skilled researchers capable of contributing to the advancement of next-generation materials science and related industries.
