On July 24th, Dr. Ray O. Johnsonโ€”Managing Director of RIC-2D and Senior Advisor to the President of Khalifa Universityโ€”led a delegation to visit the Beijing Graphene Institute (BGI) once again. This high-level strategic dialogue with Professor Zhongfan Liu and other BGI leaders marks a significant step forward, shifting our partnership from initial discussions to substantial collaboration.

Professor Liu extended a warm welcome to Dr. Johnsonโ€™s team and introduced BGIโ€™s recent breakthroughs and long-term strategic vision in the field of graphene. He shared BGIโ€™s achievements in materials synthesis, transfer technologies, and critical equipment development. He also highlighted the industrial applications of our flagship productsโ€”such as โ€œMonene glass fiberโ€ and โ€œgraphene cryoEM gridsโ€โ€”across sectors like industrial heating, wind turbine blades, aircraft anti-icing, and biomedicine.

On the industrialization front, Professor Liu emphasized the rapid development of BGIโ€™s Henan production base, which will ensure scaled manufacturing capacity to meet global demand. He reaffirmed BGIโ€™s commitment to building a robust innovation-to-commercialization pipeline, reinforcing our global leadership in graphene technology.

Mr. Fahad Al Absi, Director of Commercialization & Special Projects at RIC-2D, shared RIC-2Dโ€™s globalization strategy and outlined their integrated approach to accelerating the journey of 2D materials from lab to market. He provided an in-depth look at key project needs and collaboration opportunities, expressing strong recognition of BGIโ€™s scientific strength and industrial vision.

During the meeting, both parties engaged in in-depth discussions on R&D collaboration and business frameworks. Technical exchanges focused on emerging materials systems including Monene glass fiber, metal powders, graphene-on-sapphire/silicon wafers, and graphene polymer fibers. Business dialogues addressed joint development models, IP structure, technology transfer, manufacturing strategies, and scaling pathways.

This friendly exchange reflects RIC-2Dโ€™s interest in learning more about BGIโ€™s innovation capabilities and industrial layout, while also allowing BGI to gain deeper insights into RIC-2Dโ€™s global strategy in 2D materials. Moving forward, both sides expressed a willingness to maintain communication and explore areas of mutual interest.
